I’ve been lucky enough to take on PR and campaign roles at a number of charities, including Breast Cancer Now, Fairtrade Foundation and, currently, Carers UK. Yet, in the space of two years I have seen too many talented colleagues and friends in the charity sector leave, favouring the professional development, goal orientation and personal investment they enjoy in competing sectors.
Having spoken to those who left, along with those who no longer want to stay, I started decided to start working with others who felt it was time to set up a body that could both frame with research, and remedy with training, the biggest challenges facing young people who are starting their careers at a non-profit.
