What is the Young Charity Professionals Network mentorship programme?
The YCPN mentorship programme is an informal networking opportunity, matching entry level staff and interns with experienced staff members who know the ropes of the cause you care most about.
For young charity professionals
Many of us start in the sector with the first job we can get, sacrificing our true passions for the chance to ‘upskill’ until we’re where we want to be.
For this reason, it’s useful to be able to pick the brains of those who know the ropes and can offer some tailored advice according to your situation. Everybody has a different route to their dream career, so sometimes the best way to think out loud is over a cheeky coffee with somebody who can give you a steer in the right direction.
To apply, email your CV, and a brief line on the area of work you hope to move into, so that we can build a picture of how best to support you. If we become oversubscribed, we’ll still let you know how your application progresses.
For mentors
We are currently recruiting for mentors with the following skill sets and experience:
- Media, comms, and PR
- Direct marketing, DTV and digital fundraising
- Data and analytics
- Major donors, trusts and foundations
- Policy, public affairs and research
As charities struggle to allocate staff time to mentorship internally, the current climate makes it harder and harder for young people to feel consistently supported in paid charity work. Your time, even in the form of the minimum four coffee meets annually, will be greatly received by a passionate professional hoping to work effectively towards change.
To find out more, please email your availability and some information on your areas of expertise/causes and we will respond to you shortly.
